The one-day workshops will help importers understand the FDAs HACCP regulation
which becomes effective on December 18, 1997. Geared toward regulatory
affairs, quality control and purchasing personnel the workshop covers FDA
Import Law, importer verification procedures and FDA import inspection
procedures and compliance policy. The agenda also includes an introduction
to the Fish and Fishery Products Hazard and Control Guide. Importers
need to understand the contents of the Guide because regulators who conduct
HACCP verification inspections will rely heavily on it.
Representatives from NFI, FDA District Offices, FDA Office of Seafood,
FDA, Division of Import Operations and Policy and the California, Maryland,
North Carolina and Virginia Sea Grant Extension programs will participate
at the workshops. Each workshop provides time to discuss HACCP issues with
industry representatives.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: The workshops are designed to assist regulatory affairs,
quality control and purchasing personnel in understanding those portions
of the FDA HACCP regulations that affect importers. Customs brokers may
also benefit from participating in the workshops.
REGISTRATION: The registration fee (industry rate: $45/person; government
rate: $25/person) covers: workshop handouts, A.M. and P.M. breaks and administrative
costs. Seating is limited. Since seating for onsite registrants cannot
be guaranteed, advanced registration is strongly urged
and must be received five business days prior to the scheduled workshop.
Cancellations made in writing will be fully refunded up to five business
days prior to the workshop. Cancellations made less than five business
days before the scheduled workshop will be refunded at two-thirds the
Note: Workshop sponsors reserve the right to cancel workshops due to
